not a book club, it’s a reading party.
Reading Rhythms is a community event series that started in New York in 2023 when four friends realized they didn’t have time in their lives to simply…read. So one day, on a rooftop in New York, they brought a group of friends together, turned on some vibey music, read their own books, and then conversed about what they had each just read afterwards. And so, the first Reading Party was had, and Reading Rhythms has since become a global community with nearly 20,000 members in 2025.
As the chapter lead for Reading Rhythms San Diego, I launched and fostered a local community of over 600 unique readers by partnering with local bookstores and businesses to host Reading Parties, where people gather simply to read quietly for an hour and connect with others over conversation afterwards. Venue partners include:
San Diego County Office of Parks & Recreation
San Diego County Library
Libélula Books & Co.
Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore
The Lane SD
Within two months of the launch of the San Diego chapter, I would lead the chapter in producing the San Diego book festival, PAGES IN THE PARK, a partnership with the San Diego County Office of Parks & Recreation and the San Diego County Library. The event debuted on March 30th, 2025 at the iconic WATERFRONT PARK, with the follow-up taking place later that year on September 7th, 2025 at the then-newly renovated and newly reopened HERITAGE PARK in the historic Old Town district of San Diego. Pages in the Park now takes place twice a year at parks throughout San Diego county.
